Tokens – Blog No. 25

tokens

I was imagining a world that existed like this:

Each person’s wealth – that has been gained from ‘earning a living’ – is converted into tokens redeemable only by the ‘earner’, in an attempt to demonstrate who has what in this world.  You carry around a bag with your tokens in it, showing how ‘valuable’ you are as a community asset.  Then – surprise, surprise – the air you breathe becomes costly.  You have to insert tokens into a local ‘breathing machine’ in order to have fresh air pumped – in a puff – into the atmosphere so that all living things can draw breath.  At first there are communal machines – anyone can put tokens in to make sure that we can all breathe.  Everyone does so with enthusiasm.  We all have tokens, well, hopefully we have all earned a few, and we use them as is necessary.  Those with tokens put them willingly in – in a fairly democratic fashion, no doubt.  I put one – you put one.  Etc.

Then the majority starts to run short of tokens.  The air is getting tight, difficult to breathe.  Like molasses.  Those with big bags of tokens begin to become selfish.  They resent putting extra tokens into the ‘breathing machine’ – despite the fact that they have plenty extra – when there are others that no longer ‘contribute’ to the air everyone breathes.  The ones with tokens believe the ones without tokens should suffocate.  They should die because they did not earn enough tokens to keep them alive.  They believe this, despite the fact that they – and those ‘lazy time-wasters’ – share the same breathing space.  The point is:  without the ‘time-wasters’ – the dreamers, the believers, the lovers – the elite and their breathing would not even be a problem that needed contemplating on this planet.

Then – considering all – I came to the conclusion that human beings, being what they are, would never have condoned the manufacture of communal ‘breathing machines’.  The capitalist mindset that manipulates the actions of the too-wealthy elite – those ‘with’ money – would have ensured at the outset that only individual ‘breathing machines’ were made, those that were built to the individual’s specifications.  I am quite certain that those with enough tokens and their bespoke ‘breathing machines’ would be quite happy to watch with a ‘dejected’ sigh those without tokens who fall by the roadside and expire.  I mean – if you are wealthy and well-connected you cannot be expected to save every piece of crap lying around on the planet, can you?

Living – Blog No. 14

seize_the_day___carpe_diem_by_extremelygreen-d5wqvkfIf you cannot be bothered to spend time living your life to its fullest – your fullest – then perhaps you should surrender yourself to the powers that be and call your existence quits.  Perhaps you should relinquish control of yourself and your sources and accept that you are missing the point of life.  There is no excuse for not living, it is an essential state of being.  You will know how it is to be truly alive and kicking.  You will know because you can feel it when you are in your element.  Your senses tell you all about it.  Should you find yourself wishing to be present and counted in your everyday, then take the time to make that happen.  You need to be assertive when it comes to managing your time, your days.  You are who says what happens when, and how.  That is your power.  Do not waste it.

Living for another is not a wise idea.  You cannot realistically bring yourself to an optimum place when your existence is defined by the toings and froings of another person.  That attitude is defeatist.  You need to live first for yourself – you get one life in the embodiment in which you currently find yourself and that actuality should not be overlooked.  You should not overlook yourself at all.  Living for yourself is not selfish.  It is necessary.  When you find your truth and you subscribe to it wholeheartedly you will discover your purpose, and once you discover your purpose you will understand that your life is not given to you for you to farm it out.  Farm in-house, not out-house.  Do not try to be for another – that never works.

Living – in the cliché – is loving.  And it is.  Should you know how to properly live, you will know how to properly love.  That is a given fundamental.  If you are not sure how to live properly then perhaps train yourself in that discipline.  It is a definite discipline and you will get better at it the more you practice.  Do not fear repercussions for living to your fullest.  There will be none.  The universe will support every attempt you make to be something in yourself.  Embrace that reality and get busy living – as Buddha said:  ‘… the problem is, you think you have time…’
