When you hear the words ‘at a loss’ tossed around, remember that the phrase need not be interpreted negatively. The statement indicates that in order for whomever it is to ‘be at a loss’ they have come to realise that prior to their now they had something of great value that they no longer have – and will not get again. At least these people have the good grace to recognise their catastrophic failure to hold on to whatever that ‘thing’ of value was. This is helpful because by facing that failure they are opening their own minds to the actuality of their loss and they are accepting that there is no alternative but to move on without it, wherever that ‘on’ might be. That moving on – in itself – will hopefully bring them to a place of healing, a place where they can begin making amends to their discarded hearts. When you have something of value and you deliberately trash it because of your deluded stupidity, please remember that you are destroying only your own peace of mind – not that of any other. Understanding that actuality is where the word ‘accountability’ steps in. And those ‘at a loss’ will be held accountable – every single one of them.
‘At a loss’ is at times a distinctly fiscal description. For those shackled by the big bad world of finance, greed and ill-gotten gains – being ‘at a loss’ is terrifying news. In the lives of those types, the prospect of watching the numbers that gave them ‘status’ and defined their very existence whittle themselves from billions down to nothing can cause immeasurable stress, coupled with a debilitating fear – and those diseases combined can have disastrous effects. Usually – after hiding denial behind numerous lies, those ‘at a loss’ will start immediately their relentless search for ‘The Perpetrator of Their Misfortunes’ with a ‘no holds barred’ sort of blame-game. Unable to accept that they are ultimately responsible for their own drastic ‘losses’ they will flail around trying to find a fall-guy on whom to pin their fall-out, a scapegoat on which to strap their parachutes. Thereafter, when their fall-guy flies and their parachutes fail to open, they will descend into a state of chaotic desperation. In that state, those types are dangerous. They have sold their souls, i.e. their futures, and will attempt anything in order to restore the balance they imagine they had. It is best to leave them to it. Their wasted efforts expose them further and once totally exposed they will know to refrain from bitching and whining – which is a relief to us all.
Being ‘at a loss’ for words is not synonymous with being speechless. It depends upon what your intentions are. I choose to think that being wordless means that you in fact have a great deal to say, but in certain situations elect to stay silent because the people to whom you should direct certain words are a waste of the energy it would take to utter them. Direct your energy wisely. Those ‘at a loss’ will suffer, too, those protracted silences. Like they will suffer the ‘speechlessness’ that comes with the realisation that the words they never heard cannot ever be respoken – no matter how often they try to read them out loud. It’s all in the timing – and that is not the first time I have said that. Incidentally – those self-same words will not be heard, now, either – no matter which ears the speechless think their ‘right’ words might reach. It’s all in the tone of the say-so and the nature of the hearing ears. The say-so of the speechless, sadly, has no resonance and resonance – like Love – is not a commodity, no matter what your fiscal description.
Ignorance is a choice. As is refusing to believe a fact when it is irrefutable. Fortunately facts abound in our world. They provide stability, a framework. Lay-people should not be so afraid of them, they are tried and tested – each one. Facts can be relied upon. They are there for you to use, so use them wisely. It is pointless ignoring them. That is choosing to be stupid. No one should choose to be stupid. Ignorant is not the same as stupid. There is a marked difference. Ignorance is curable. Stupidity is often terminal.
Should you currently find yourself in challenging circumstances do not plead ignorance as to the whys or whens of these tricky situations. You have brought them to yourself. They have arrived because you needed to learn something new. It is simpler to accept lessons when they come, trust that there is a reason. Lessons occasionally bend you out of shape. They push your boundaries. This is not a problem. Stretching through learning is worth every squeak and groan of the expanding infrastructure in your mind. When you begin to eradicate your ignorance through deliberate effort you will find that your life opens up immeasurably. You will find that you start to care more about the world in which you live because you understand it better.
Educate your children. Then teach them to have patience with ignorance. There are a lot of ignorant people on this planet and the children are the ones who are going to have to remedy this situation. It is the next generation that is going to carry that load. As a people we should think more about what we are consigning to our kids. The society they are set to inherit is not looking good. It is going to take a monumental effort on the part of those currently in power to make this different. One would hope that those currently in power understand their responsibility.
If you cannot be bothered to spend time living your life to its fullest – your fullest – then perhaps you should surrender yourself to the powers that be and call your existence quits. Perhaps you should relinquish control of yourself and your sources and accept that you are missing the point of life. There is no excuse for not living, it is an essential state of being. You will know how it is to be truly alive and kicking. You will know because you can feel it when you are in your element. Your senses tell you all about it. Should you find yourself wishing to be present and counted in your everyday, then take the time to make that happen. You need to be assertive when it comes to managing your time, your days. You are who says what happens when, and how. That is your power. Do not waste it.
Living for another is not a wise idea. You cannot realistically bring yourself to an optimum place when your existence is defined by the toings and froings of another person. That attitude is defeatist. You need to live first for yourself – you get one life in the embodiment in which you currently find yourself and that actuality should not be overlooked. You should not overlook yourself at all. Living for yourself is not selfish. It is necessary. When you find your truth and you subscribe to it wholeheartedly you will discover your purpose, and once you discover your purpose you will understand that your life is not given to you for you to farm it out. Farm in-house, not out-house. Do not try to be for another – that never works.
Living – in the cliché – is loving. And it is. Should you know how to properly live, you will know how to properly love. That is a given fundamental. If you are not sure how to live properly then perhaps train yourself in that discipline. It is a definite discipline and you will get better at it the more you practice. Do not fear repercussions for living to your fullest. There will be none. The universe will support every attempt you make to be something in yourself. Embrace that reality and get busy living – as Buddha said: ‘… the problem is, you think you have time…’
Timing is everything in life. Just think, you cannot force a rose to bloom. You cannot hurry up a caterpillar with its business of changing into a butterfly. You stand back, and you watch. When the time is right these things happen. They know when. If you are a wise person, you will appreciate every stage of the changing. You will allow things to become what they must, in their own good time and you will marvel – with hindsight – at the process. Hindsight is a tool. Use it. It is helpful when you want to get a feel for how far you have come.
Timing is vital. If you jump at the wrong moment, for instance, you will land badly. If you are going to leap, you must time your leap perfectly. The only way to do that is to trust instinct implicitly when it comes to you, insisting. Instinct will have all its reasons lined up and ready for inspection should you be able to stay quiet for long enough for them to make themselves heard. You have to listen carefully to its justifications, instinct can explain your very purpose on the planet.
You are not where you are in time, by accident. Your timing is your responsibility. Use it to perfect yourself to benefit mankind. Keep in mind that your version of a perfect self is whatever perfect means to you. Perfect is being in a place where you like yourself, your contribution to the world. If you are not in that place then you must ask yourself why. There are always reasons why, you must just feel like hearing them. If you can do something that no one else can do, do it so that others can see. We can all benefit from that kind of sharing. If you do not yet know what you are capable of, then learn. There is always time for that.
