If you need to scale down what is happening on this planet at this exact time – in order to get it into better perspective – then I would suggest you watch a clip of the moon landing in 1969. It would not hurt either to take a look at the footage of Apollo 13’s return. These things – amongst others – tell the story of what is possible when you believe in what seems to be impossible or you dare to dream that impossible dream. Either way, when it comes down to what counts in your life you will find out that what is seen as impossible, is not.
Another way to measure the actuality of happenings is to fill your scales of justice with everything you have. All your positives to the right and all your negatives to the left. You need not sort through them. No matter where you think they belong – on whichever side – neither will end up in the wrong place. They know where to go when balance is called for. When your scales are hanging heavier on one side – on, say, the left – at the nanosecond during which your exact balance is captured, you will not be required to explain any discrepancy that is evident. Your measure tells your truth and the nature of the future you inherit will depend on that evidence.
Fish have scales. As do dragons. It is best to remove the scales from either creature before eating it.
There are days here and there when I wonder what fantasy actually is. Apart from being a state of mind, it is clearly an ideal place to be at some stage in your daily thinking. Fantasy can be anything from reality right through to illusion – and everything in between. Fiction is not fantasy. Fantasy is very real. It takes an extraordinary level of concentration to maintain the purity of thought required for the creation – or the construction, if you like – of a flawless fantasy. It takes some practice, too.
Fantasy requires minds to find a steady stream of consciousness through which their ideal can be projected. To find the ideal you need to be a positive thinker. To find a steady stream is essential. Fantasies do not travel well under bumpy conditions. They are delicate in nature. Nature does not have fantasies about killing, or causing suffering to living things. There will be fantasies found about eating, feeding frenzies. About sex. That is perfectly natural. Nature takes time to build a fantasy with the reality; she does not waste time dreaming about pain.
Fantasies are for the bravehearts. For those that dare to think big. Small fantasies are not necessarily smaller than any bigger ones you may have along your way. It depends how deep small goes. How shallow your perception. When you understand the motivation behind a fanciful way of choosing to live, you will understand how absolutely essential the propagation of fantasy is as a very real – and viable – reality.
You do realise that you are as lucky as you think you are? It is also true that you make your own luck. That is very encouraging news when you consider that your future is going to be what you make of it. You can include for yourself in your days as much luck as you can possibly muster. Pull from all sources. Bless yourself with big dreaming. You do not need to wait for someone in this world to give your dreams approval. Dare to believe for yourself that your temperament is involved in your ‘luckiness’. Groom yourself, your thinking, for luck. Please know that luck is not coincidence. Nothing is coincidence.
Luck is not something that you resent if you should see another person getting lucky. You be happy for them. You recognise their good fortune and you ask them how they look at life. The way they look at life will tell you a lot about their ‘luckiness’. The importance of giving recognition to luck is that it reminds you that there is such a thing. Consider that luck has nothing to do with money. You are not lucky if you have money. Money comes to each person in their time. Most people are the same when it comes their way. If you have money, it is your blessing to bestow. Use it.
Luck will carry you far. Make sure you acknowledge each piece of luck that comes your way. It is a way of saying thankyou to the guardian that you are to yourself. It is a way of saying thankyou to yourself for believing that you are lucky. If you have a positive attitude towards your ‘luckiness’, you have a lot to thank your head for. Your mind. Your senses. Without your senses you would neither know nor understand lucky, so be grateful for those above all.
Night time at The Circus is the most exciting.
It is when the vampires come to watch. They lust for blood.
They know the wild comes out at night.
There is fire.
The Circus is in a fortunate position. Its blood-trade is spectacle.
Its lineage, too. That is why it is fortunate.
It can pull crowds with its people.
The circus people are like fairground people.
There are none like them.
Luckily for the wild animals The Circus can soon excuse them from service.
Most human beings understand their plight.
Their ‘wildness’ has worn off, anyway. They are tarnished. Has-beens.
Where is the magic in a has-been? If you are honest you will admit there is none.
If you are not convinced then take time to walk around after the show.
Peruse the cages. The stakes.
Notice the eyes of the wild animals. They are dead.
Know that is because they no longer dream.
The subject of the ringmaster is bound to come up. He is a hot topic.
He has begged off again, citing a scratch from one of the big cats.
An infection. Perhaps he will die of tiger?
More likely he will die of scorn. Or rumours.
Whichever, one more no-show and he is out.
There is a three-strike rule for ringmasters.
Of course there is his understudy. There is always an understudy.
Luckily a voice-over is a voice-over no matter who presents.
The ringmaster’s absence does not mean The Circus does not run.
It just manages itself differently.
The wild animals get a night of zoo-treatment. They do not get a night off.
Flashing cameras. Squeals. Pussy-pussy-pussy.
Watch the elephants rocking. Back and forth, back and forth.
They are not dancing, no. They are screaming.
For their captors these screams are not good news.
For the ringmaster, a depression with the elephants is especially bad news.
He is the clown when they refuse later to work for his voice.
For children The Circus has a special matinee performance.
At noon. This is when the cowboys come out.
All real circuses have cowboys.
They ride side-saddle, backwards. Standing.
Their horses do not overly mind the small galloping circle.
Three generations of performers born in captivity.
So they did not forget. They never knew.
Sometimes the horses would love to buck off the cowboy, ruin his show.
They are cheeky like that. They know their power.
The horses are glad for their blinkers. They keep the noise of people out.
The horses know their moves. They cruise through their routine.
The cowboys tip-toe up and down their spines spinning lasso.
The horses laugh at the prancing men and dream of saving the tigers.
The girls in gold glitter g-strings get everyone’s attention.
The bored men straighten their backs for a better view.
Black feathers, corsets, suspenders. Heels.
Tits everywhere. Bonus.
Jesus. Those matching backsides.
Where is the wife looking? Not at me. Nor are the kids.
The one on the far right is hot, hot, hot.
Very, very nice. She would look good bent over the bonnet.
Oh no. Boner.
It’s been three weeks. And that is some faceful of lady.
Nod, for fuck’s sake. She is watching you watching.
What? A Coke? Now?
The trapeze artists watch from the wings the goings-on in the audience.
Theirs’ is the show that comes on after the glamour-girls finish.
It is as popular. Flying people are compelling.
The opening contortionists that unwind themselves from the shadows at the top of the tent
are not called ‘aerial silk’ for nothing.
Their display is a tale: red/orange/yellow/green/blue/indigo/violet
and people read the way they ride ribbons in their sequinned spirals, stretches, spins,
telling the story of The Circus’ evolution.
The trapeze artists have an opening act. Theirs’ is the evolution.
In fact, trapeze artists can smile these days.
Circus politics have begun to change in their favour.
Respect is now being given where it is due.
Theirs’ has become a kind of autonomy in the ranks.
Even the ringmaster stops what he does to watch them fly.
They enjoy their daredevil status. It is years’ worth of work.
As before, they brought their skill to the table, the trapeze artists. Nothing more.
Nothing more was needed.
You create your own limitations. Break with your tradition of thinking and remove the worn out ideas – your core ‘staple’ thoughts – to free up space for a new world-view. It is time. There is not time any longer for being overly precious about your angers and your hatreds – you must see each one, face to face, and then let it fly. It is time to let go of your toxic thoughts. Write them on paper and set fire to them. It is cathartic watching the flames. I suggest you do not get too sentimental about your letting go, either. Clean up your head willingly, it can only help you. Your thoughts contain your future, they are the building blocks of your existence. Make them strong. Positive. And think big. Dream of a world where there is more peace and tolerance, more respect and goodwill, compassion. Expect that world to materialise. But first – remove the boundaries you set for yourself by addressing your own negatives. When you can look at your negative behaviours and your destructive behaviours and understand why there are times when you act (seemingly) to sabotage your own life, then you will find yourself closer to knowing just who you are and how powerful your nature is. Your nature is essentially what you are. What you are is not the same as who you are. You must know both. That is why being natural is important. It shows respect for your beginnings. If you cannot be easy in your natural state you are missing out, it is a peace like none other.
This world has a self-consciousness that needs exploring. Perhaps there are too many mirrors? Perhaps it matters too much in some places how you present yourself to the planet. But in these places where picture-perfect matters the people can be left to themselves, they are all aspiring to be the same object – so they become one and the same and no one needs to worry. Narcissus looked first to himself and last, at himself. When you have a mindset that understands shopping for a living, celebrity-worshipping and very little else it is harmless in the larger scheme of things. These people do not contribute to our days. Their attention is focussed elsewhere and their heads are empty. In fact their free space is legendary. It is when these people speak shit that we have a problem. Their thoughts are very easy to deflect but their words cause a nuisance. There are too many ignorant people speaking hatred with authority and that is a problem in our western world. How many people these days read more than the daily tabloid? You cannot get anywhere in life by reading the tabloids. Please. Fill your head with relevant facts. Who this woman is who slept with 30 men in her quest for fame is not a relevant fact. Lazy people do not bother to read about the state of their own futures in the hands of the dodgy politicians they put in power – either through voting, or NOT voting. There is no excuse for not voting. None. Lazy people do not bother to read about what state their world is in, how their natural world is shrinking. There is no time for laziness in our current climate. We need to make a statement against the way things are. We do not do that by avoiding taking responsibility. We all become informed – even one new piece of information each day. That way – you are growing your awareness and you are forming opinions. It is natural. You will have an opinion one way or another on this thing, that thing. It is interesting hearing your own opinions. You must feel how it feels to believe something. You will know how it feels. There is a power behind your idea, your ideas. You cannot pretend to yourself to believe something. And don’t worry about believing everything you read – you won’t. You have discernment and you are equipped to use it. Check your sources and find reliable facts with which to build your understanding of what is happening to our world. Trust your opinions but do not force them on other people. Suggesting is always better. Put your opinions up against the opinions of others and see how your thinking measures up. Together we can find a way to make the people who hold power, listen. It is all in the way you ask them to hear you. You cannot be unresponsive to an appeal made in earnest, with pure motivation. It would be to go against the spirit of living and violate our right of abode as citizens of Earth.
This world needs to recognise that limitations are impractical. If you can conceive of not succeeding then you have the wrong goal. What is the point wasting time on following to conclusion something that you, yourself, do not believe in? To have doubts is natural, healthy, it keeps you from complacency. But do not consider failure before you consider success. Then you will fail. You have to be able to stretch your perception to include the possibility that you have everything you need to get you to your best. Who you are – at this exact moment in time – is enough. Trust your experiences – always. Trust your innocence – always. If you manage your life effectively you will find that you develop your innocence rather than allow it to be lost. You feed your innocence and learn from experience. It is easy. Trust your inner child for guidance. It knows what to do. If you have not yet made the acquaintance of your inner child you ought to make your introductions, soon. Your inner child uses pure motivation. You can learn a lot from watching its decision-making.
The rules of life: there are no fixed rules. We all make up our own. We start with personal rules – these we develop as guidelines for what we like and what we don’t when we are quite little people. Crossing the line – emotionally and physically – is not appreciated, clearly, from a very young age. What makes us set down our first boundaries? I think it is instinct. Children are intuitive creatures. They feel us, our vibes. And they mirror our behaviours. It’s hardly surprising that there is a delinquent overdose in the UK – too many kids have been brought up watching their parents lack focus and ambition.
Children should have tolerance. Even young children. If a child is missing tolerance in its repertoire of behaviours then it is disadvantaged. Tolerance is learned. Tolerance is a word every person understands by virtue of its effect. To be tolerated – particularly when you are being frustrating or damnably changeable – is a gift. Tolerance is not accepting the unacceptable. It is not mindlessly putting up with somebody or something that offends you, or breaks your personal rules. It is about realising that you are in a bigger picture than the one in which you are affected. Tolerance is about standing away from yourself; your troubles, your desires, your judgement. It is about following your heart to a place of feeling rather than taking your head to a place of reason. You cannot reason with intolerance. It is easy to find reason for tolerance when you consider that we are all learning in this life. Even God is learning something new each day, about how humans have evolved. That first-world man has freedom of choice does amaze me some days. That he refuses to appreciate it and fully make use of its facility infuriates me. I do not understand a man with a lethargy for choosing the path of his future. How can you leave your life to run its own course when you have no idea where your future is? That is like driving a car with your eyes closed.
Should you find yourself swamped by official rules – rules that you recognise as being imposed upon you by a needlessly anal bureaucracy (society can make you feel that way on occasion) then you must allow yourself to break a few of those rules. Try not to break the law, that is different. It brings with it due consequence. Consider that if you make the rules that govern your days, you are entitled to break them. Break with your own rules, your old traditions. Open your future out in your mind. Your possibility is limitless. Really limitless. You have to see beyond your limitations because you have imposed them upon yourself. Trust that you can do what your mind dreams of if you allow yourself to step outside of your own box. Stepping out of your box means pushing parameters, letting go of what you know in favour of the unknown. The unknown is a place worth visiting. It is found on the other side of your strict personal regime.
