The weather – Blog No. 22

The weather

It is conventional in some countries for people to speak to each other about the weather as if it were a reference point in a friendly conversation.  It isn’t.  It’s the polite way of saying:  I don’t know what else to say to you.  That is the way with all small talk.  It is projectile ineptitude and all those engaged in its futility are evidently acutely uncomfortable with silence of any kind.  They need to fill the tranquility, the quiet, with pointless noise aimed at easing the awkwardness caused when they are faced with social situations in which they would rather not find themselves.  Do not listen to that sort of noise.   If you are genuinely interested in the weather, then speak of it with reverence.  Do not use it as an excuse to make wasted conversation.  Even the weather gets bored, hearing itself spoken about in the dead tones of those who chatter with empty heads.

The weather is largely unpredictable.  It is set to stay that way.  Forecasting is one way of finding out what is on its way, weather-wise.  Forecasting has prevented many deaths this century.  It is a valuable resource.  It is tempting – given the research done and being done – to imagine that it is reasonable with practice to predict definite weather patterns or determine with certainty what the weather will ‘do’.  You cannot decide what the weather is going to do.  It has its own agenda to attend to.  It is important to know that the weather we experience is impacted by factors that haven’t even happened yet.

The weather is quite often a phenomenon.  It does not play favourites.  It is what it is.  It does what it can.  The weather does not ask humankind if it would like a monsoon yesterday.  It sends a hurricane when the winds decide the time is right and a monsoon on Tuesday if the rain says okay.  That is its way.  There is no reward for complaining about its diverse nature, nor is there respite from its less tender ministrations for those who will build their lives contrary to its guidelines.  Nature will not be tamed.  Not now, not then – and not ever.  I – for one – am grateful for its changeability, its refusal to be capped by mankind.  Nature is our very essence.  Weather is its expression.  No matter how frustrating it is for humankind, neither respond to punishment.  Neither will be manipulated by public opinion.  Neither care what curses are spat in their general direction.  When there is Nature’s work to be done it gets done.  The way you feel about how it goes about its business is neither here nor there, either.  It does not work to impress.  It works to get the job that needs doing, done.

IT – Blog No. 25

IT

When you consider that a computer responds to instructions which predate its reading of them, it becomes clear that unless there is a code-break written into the programme doing the instructing, there will be no halting the run of that programme. In other words, be careful what you set in motion, there may be no way of slowing it.

Alarmingly, should the encoder neglect to use both foresight and hindsight – and fail to plan contingencies for virtually every conceivable problem that might crop up – there is little he or she can do but stand on the sidelines and watch if unforseen problems should arise and trip their systems. It is worse than infuriating for an IT sideliner when that happens, it tends to expose the glaring gaps in their actual understanding.

Technology is everything, and nothing. That is its power. Can you imagine the entire world wide web and its networks shutting down for a day? Just one day would wreak havoc on this capitalist planet. Not everywhere would feel it immediately, but the effects of such a shut-down would knock on, and on, like dominoes. There is a renewed respect that must be afforded technology when considering the grip it has on mankind.

Numbers – Blog No. 7

numbers

Numbers have their uses, as do people. Not all numbers, mind you. There are those that are best left to add themselves up and cancel themselves out of the equation. There is power in numbers. Some. It depends upon which numbers come before others, which numbers remain invisible. There are always those numbers which will remain invisible and that is for a reason. Superstition, for example, is one reason. Greed is another. Greed is particularly effective at hiding its truths.

When there is serious work that needs doing – as is generally the case in an everyday on planet earth – the most practical way to get that work done is to use numbers. There is capacity in numbers – the higher the number, the greater its capacity. Many hands make light work. We have all heard that at one time or another and some of us took heed when we did. That recall will not go to waste. No cliché ever does.

You are either a numbers person or you are not. That is for you to establish very early on in your life career. You can become a numbers person when you know some simple mental arithmetic, i.e. one plus one equals three. Until you can make that add up, you will find that the more tenacious aspects of life will proceed to challenge your understanding of who and what you are. Like the Bermuda Triangle challenges the rational in mankind. Everything has its time and its place to be – or not to be – whether or not it is tangible, visible to the naked eye. Just because you believe that you cannot see something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It is. You just have to know how to open your eyes. Unfortunately mental arithmetic cannot help you with sightlessness.

Tears – Blog No. 6

rain

Any religious practice or philosophy that discredits the power, the potency, indeed the necessity of tears, is one that makes me not only suspicious, but downright skeptical. When your religion teaches you that tears are a weakness, an indulgence – or even an attention-seeking activity – your need to question the integrity of that religion intensifies exponentially. If you are so highly spiritually evolved that you find no value in the physical expression of sadness then I would have to say your years of spiritual training leave me disappointed and more than a little distressed that there are so few people with a true understanding of pure compassion.

It does not matter who you are – your job on this planet is to raise mankind to the heights they are capable of achieving. NOT simply glorifying yourself and leaving the rest of mankind to ‘save themselves’. If you attain your nirvana, your zenith, you are obliged – in order to demonstrate gratitude for your attainment – to use every piece of knowledge, wisdom and awareness that you have gained in your life to assist others. If you do not – will not – do that, then you have failed at life, by and large, no matter what rung of the ladder you think you are on. The ‘elevation’ of oneself is essential in part, naturally, but the bigger picture is the ‘lifting up’ of every single person, too. And everyone means everyone. This means judgementalism serves no purpose other than indicating your own particular frailties as a human being and your selfish determination to be part of an ‘elite’ group that stands head and shoulders above the multitude of others. That is not acceptable.

We would not have evolved to 2015 with tear ducts and emotions as intense as they are for many people if they did not serve an urgent purpose. If you cannot cry – you cannot claim to feel authentically the plight of this planet and that in itself is cause for my greatest concern. We need to share the sad load. Where do you think the daily agonies and sufferings of the millions of animals – and people – go? Into some giant incinerator somewhere in the sky? They don’t. That pain is a living energy – a force in motion – and for those who think tears are a waste of time, think again. You are not wise if you relegate to ‘another’ that pain by avoidance or the conviction that tears are pointless if you truly understand ‘God’. They are not. That tends towards self-righteousness and self-righteousness is dangerous – inadvisable – for any person wishing a life of consequence.

Tears are an instant stress-release.  That is a good thing.  An essential in the restoration of balance. They are proof, too, that there are a few people on this planet who do care enough for the wonder of ALL life to cry for the demise of every sentient being. And that – in itself – is a wonderful thing.  A reason for hope.

Diplomacy – Blog No. 38

Diplomacy
It is not hard to use diplomacy when you still have hope.  When hope begins to dwindle, diplomacy goes out of the window.  I believe, for the most part, in hoping.  I am concerned that those that do not, are short-changing themselves and everybody else.  In the big picture.  This planet is not dead yet.  However, it is not far from being damaged beyond repair by mankind’s greed and that is then really the end.  That reality is very easy to see.  Ironically, that ending only matters to (all) life here on Earth.  You would think that would mean something to the majority of people.  It doesn’t.

But – life springs from the most unlikely sources.  One day, it will spring again.  When the timing is right, and the circumstances perfect, life will spring again and living creatures will appear like magic!  We can but wait.  Perfection takes aeons to perfect itself.  Perhaps when that happens, when life comes again, it will have grown minds that can conceive of – and comprehend – immediately their own immortality.  Perhaps then those minds will use their understanding to help others transcend this experience. It is but one of many.

Good news – Blog No. 8

goodThe good news is that the world of humans is not changing too fast for Nature to evolve alongside it.  Nature is way ahead of the humans.  The humans are merely speeding up the rate of extinction on this planet – their own, included.  For Nature – that is very good news.  As soon as the humans are gone, this world will be at peace with itself.  It will exist without labelling, without cruelty, without greed, without division, without hatred.  Nature will go back to its vast drawing board, as it always does, and in due course it will come up with something even more spectacular than human beings.  It is a pity that there will be no humans left to appreciate the display.  But humans do not appreciate what they have already and theirs’ is the destructive ignorance.  The stupidity.  That there will be no back-slapping on Earth in the coming ages is perhaps something to look forward to.  The humans have always been too busy claiming accolades that are not theirs’ to claim and undoubtedly should Nature deliver another round of ‘miracles’ or ‘universal magic’ or whatever you want to call it, if they were around, the humans would somehow imagine themselves responsible for the majestic feat.  They are that arrogant.

Humans are incidental.  They are dispensable.  All of them.  They are not necessary for the survival of this planet.  What is valuable about a human being, interesting, is its intelligence – preferably when it is being used.  Intelligence does not die.  It lives on, in itself.  It has its very own ecosystem, if you like.  Intelligence transcends death, its reach is beyond the grave.  Like a great many other things that are going to start causing problems for the humans on this planet.  Know that it is possible to be intelligent without an education, but an education does help a great many people access their intelligence.

The good news is that about 5% of the population of this planet can save the environment with their cash.  They could extend the planet’s longevity this way, greatly improve their standing.  They have no standing simply because of their wealth, understand that.  It is what you do with your money when you have it that speaks for who you are, and who you are – in this world – is what is measured.  These people have to want to use their money to benefit something or someone other than themselves, though, and sadly not many of them seem to want to do that.  They are short-sighted.  Selfish.  They exist in a colossal vacuum, which is ultimately to their huge detriment.  Did no one hear that the only honourable pursuit for a thinking person is the lifting of mankind from the gutter?  Raise mankind above man.  There is nothing honourable about sitting in an ivory tower watching mankind flailing around on the ground like a fish out of water.

Breeding – Blog No. 86

IVF donation tinsWhy do people who can barely provide for themselves, breed?  Why are millions of children caught up in their parent’s poverty?  When you bring a child into a shit life – and you know very well whether your life is shit or not – what are you thinking?  I don’t think you are thinking.  You can’t be.  In some countries children are bred to sell, or to work.  That makes no sense.  The parents must work.  For themselves, first.  If you cannot put food on the table for yourself, let alone a family, then you have to sit parenthood out.  You do not breed children to provide for you – know that for free.  It is time people grew more responsible and looked at what they are doing to themselves, as a whole.  What are you showing a child when you bear and raise it in poverty, squalour?  You are teaching it disease and suffering.  Death.  Why would anyone choose to do that?  As a parent, do not tell me that there is surplus energy to love and nurture your children when you are struggling to stay alive.

Breeding violence is not productive.  What is the point of generation after generation learning that hurting other people is how you send a message or get what you want?  That is not the way.  Violence is second nature to some people.  It is their first reaction to any confrontation.  In fact, violent people will seek confrontation so that they can inflict damage.  Theirs’ is a bizarre mindset.  It wants controlling.  Realise that violence changes a person.  It hardens your heart.  If you commit acts of violence, you are not in control.  You need to be in control of your wild inside.  The anger that drives violence is a voice – amidst many – that still needs to be heard, but there are other ways for that pain to say what needs saying.  The fact that so much senseless violence is played out through alcohol intoxication should alert mankind to what it becomes under the influence.  Often, where there is truth there is conflict.

In the same way that you get breeds of animals, you get breeds of people.  Of men.  Women.  Animals accept their classification without taking it personally.  Humans don’t.  They fight themselves, each other, over what and who they are.  They are precious about their identity.  This is a consistency, everywhere.  It causes wars.  You are bred into tradition – the system – or you are bred to question the system.  Some people are bred into wealth.  What they do with that privilege is always measured.  You are bred into security, or you are not.  If you are not, your questions are for your parents.  Hard workers are a breed of people.  As are the compassionate.  Arseholes, too, are a breed.  Take each at face value.

Fukushima – Blog No. 67

fukushimaOops, Japan.  Big, big oops.  I think it would be safe to say that the Japanese and the Chinese are doing an exceptional job of fucking up the planet for the rest of us.  How is Japan going to compensate for killing the Pacific?  About 400 tons of poisonous water is leaking into the ocean every single day.  Who is going to be held accountable here?  Someone better had be held accountable.  It is HUMAN error that built a reactor next to a tsunami.  Who is Japan to cry about a tsunami washing it away?  Nature will do her business and she will make her statements and she will not ever be answerable to man.  Ever.  He should mind his own business of raping her every facility and realise that the more he infringes on her territory, the more she will protest his presence on her planet.  Her animals – every single one of them – is held captive in one way or another, under human control.  She accepts that in a world this small, that must be the case.  What she does not accept is the way a lot of these animals are forced to live and die.

A handful of people died as a result of the Fukushima disaster.  Five, I think.  Five human beings for the Pacific?  No.  I don’t think so.  That is a very serious imbalance.  Nature likes the scales to be balanced.  Please understand that, if you understand nothing else.  She will work at equilibrium until she has it perfected and whichever way that goes for the humans is the way it goes.  Do not make the mistake of thinking that she feels sad about the plight of the humans.  She does not.  She is intrigued, perhaps.  Disappointed.  That is all.  Nature is more concerned about sharing her legacy with a future she can anticipate than she is mankind’s eventual extinction.  She has the ears of the gods and for now, she shares that legacy with them.  Nature still has so many secrets to tell you about yourselves.  Don’t kill her.

Fukushima adds to the extensive debt Japan already owes Nature.  When they have killed their connection to her entirely, and their very small country becomes uninhabitable – because it will – where, then, will they live?  Where will the Chinese live when their pollution and their demons chase them out of the cities, themselves?  I think the Japanese and the Chinese will find out then that the rest of the countries on this planet are full-up.  They will not be welcome, anywhere.  Sorry, the world will say, no space for people like you.  It is coming to that.
