Is the greatest commodity on this planet our headspace?  How many different agencies are vying for our attention, clamouring for our ears, our eyes?  Is their need to dominate our realities a real threat?  To be rude, all you do is shut someone out.  That is one of the greatest powers we hold as humans – the power to sever communications with another.  There is nothing quite as brutal as not knowing why a silence has fallen.  There is, too, huge defiance in staying silent.  That kind of defiance is only justified, though, if the silence held holds a beautiful truth that does not need to explain itself to the outside world.  For all beautiful truths resonate the same.  They do not need to be spoken aloud to be realised.  There is a low hum of truthful activity – whether that be saving the environment or healing the sick – alive on our planet.  It is not possible to lose sight of that.  In the battle between ignorance and environment I think the environment is starting to take the lead.  I think there are more green-minded people right now than there are those who don’t give a shit.  Unfortunately for the rest of us there are a lot of people who still don’t give a shit – I am bound here to rant about the UK yobs who can’t even spell ‘green’ and the Chinese who rape virtually everything natural that they come across.  The list of offenders is endless.  There are also a lot of people who are powerless to make big changes – like huge swathes of Chinese people who are bullied by a regimented state system.  They protest and hope someone hears them.  They have to shout loudly to be heard above the racket of communism in the background.  How best to make a nation take themselves more seriously as human beings?  That is no easy task, especially since so many Chinese seem now to be getting lost in the capitalist plot.  Their ears are stuffed too full of designer labels for them to make sense of the ancient wisdom that sings somewhere within the soul of each Chinese person.  Neglecting their heritage, they are playing a dangerous game with their evolution.  We’ve all seen the results of ‘too much West too fast’.  Look at what the missionaries did to a beautifully rich tribal culture.  Look at what happens with the extremity of Sharia law.  Look at the power of Hollywood, of Bollywood.  I have to wonder what we learned from our empire-minded forebears if it was not cruelty, avarice, greed – and most importantly, loyalty to only the self?

What we choose to subscribe to shapes our person and defines our ‘work’ on this planet.  For we all have a ‘work’ to do.  When you find out what yours is, you will know.  It might take you half your life to find that out.  The better equipped you are to search for your work, the better.  So take back your headspace.  You need it.  Use it to some pro-active end.  Lose the thinking that you are what you have been taught.  You are what you have learned.  There is the difference.
