Revolution – Blog No. 32

revolution

Revolutions are occasionally necessary, despite their untimely arrival.  The hows and whys of their happening are perhaps obvious to some, to others their actuality is a surprise.  A revolution can be a pleasant surprise.  It can also cause a nightmare for those who will circumvent change.  Change comes when it is ready.  It cannot be subverted.  It can be delayed, naturally, but it cannot be prevented.  Change inspires fear in the hearts of those who need the order of the old establishment to conceal their misdeeds.  Misdeeds are misdeeds – they stand out in the barren landscape of inescapable lies.  Lies are lies – nothing can hide their devastation from the truth.

Some people would prefer not to have to revolve.  Or evolve, it would seem.  That is unfortunate when those people have no choice.  Some will go around and around and around, for eternity.  Others will pull their particular revolution straight and leave themselves an open passage to the future.  There will always be a future if you choose to believe that it exists.  Knowing it exists is one thing, the other is finding it.  If you do not know at this point where you are in your own future then it would be safe to say that you probably won’t have one to speak of.  If you were alive inside your future you would not have to find it – and nor would you still be searching.  You would instead be sitting – and waiting.

The purpose of any revolution is to show you something new.  New is interesting, no matter how you may feel about it personally.  You can be part of a revolution or you can stand on the sidelines and watch it roll by.  Either way it will happen.  Revolutions don’t tend to ask for permission.  They always come at exactly the right time.  They know what their work is and they know why it needs doing.  Revolutions are worth the effort needed to set them in motion.  When they are successful, they take ideas and their people to new places.

Possession – Blog No. 3

possession

Once upon a time they said that possession was nine tenths of the law. Where did that leave the last tenth? In limbo, obviously. In this want-want world, possession seems to orbit the thoughts of many people. It seems to give them a sense of self-worth, a sense of pride. That is a pity. You cannot progress beyond the illusory substance of daily life when you are of the opinion that either owning ‘items’ or ‘people’ gives you some standing. It doesn’t. You can, however, possess your own mind. Your thinking. Those go with you wherever you go – and are with you in whichever eternity you end.

I will say it again. You cannot hope to possess a person. That includes your progeny. Such is not possible. The tighter you squeeze – through your own insecurity or the need to dominate another – the further the person you are trying to own will go. It is perhaps like trying to frame a living rainbow. Or contain a feral cat in an old bag. You will simply not succeed. In fact, you may find that by merely trying, you consign your future to the universal trash can. That is not what you want to be doing with the time you have left. The universal dustbin has now officially been emptied, so to find yourself languishing there would be dire, indeed. Certainly you will be devoid of friends and the family you may encounter in that insipid darkness may not be what you are familiar with.

When did the notion of possession get out of hand? Who decided to propagate the principle of such possibility? I think it must have been the early capitalists that got the premise wrong. That is not a problem. We can change it. We can change the premise, and their thinking. All it will take is to show those who follow a wrong set-up that giving is guaranteed to take you far further than the now, the immediate. Giving can open doors that have until this day, stayed closed. If you are not of the giving mindset, then enjoy your time in the trash can. Believe me, it will last forever.

Family – Blog No. 55

family

Family is what you make of it. It can be anything you like. It is said that you cannot choose your family but you can choose your friends. I am not sure that is entirely true. I suspect that there are instances where it is possible to choose your family. It depends who you are and where you choose to call home.

Every single person on this planet has at one time or another been a part of a family. Whether that family proved to be dysfunctional or not is immaterial. Whether the dynamics were skewed, or the values lacking, a family at base-level inception wants the best for all its members and this means it will pass on its greatest strengths in addition to its weaknesses. It is what a person makes of weakness that determines their future.

Family is a social concept. It works. It is not something that is determined by a name, or a label. It is a feeling. An understanding. Family members get each other. That is how you know you are family. A family celebrates its members. It is not intolerant of them, nor does it try to repress its lessons, if it is wise. What are lessons for, unless to learn from?

Youth – Blog No. 36

youth

It is not easy being young.  Ever.  It is harder today, however, than ever before.  The primary reason for this is an innate awareness that the planet we are on is in a critical state.  There is a pervading sense of doom hovering over the long-term future of the humans on Earth, i.e. the youth understand that because of the way this world currently chooses to work, there won’t be any humans in the future.  It is challenging finding the motivation to repair a damaged world when you have the knowledge that you are speeding towards your own extinction, because people prioritise living their lives – having their ‘moment’ – and that takes time and focus away from fixing the problems they can fix.  It is important to live life and fix it as you go.

Perhaps the biggest challenge facing today’s youth is the choice of what to do with their lives.  There is the ever-pressing concern about earning enough to be able to live the life you are promised in every advert, every magazine.  Without money, we are taught, what are we?  This fact of reality discourages people from daring to follow their hearts and occupy their lives with what they love to do.  Because a person in this society needs to earn to live a reasonable life, a ‘safe’ life, people are choosing careers that will make them rich and safe, rather than fulfilled and pushing at their highest potential.  One is fulfilled when one does work with its own intrinsic value and gets paid to do so.  One pushes at one’s highest potential when one is challenged in one’s field of expertise.  I am sure more of the youth need to be shown that the careers that currently exist are not the only careers there can ever be.  The youth must create their own career options.  They can do that by each developing their unique strengths and dreaming of a healed world.

I would hazard a guess that the youth of 2014 are not impressed with the state of the planet.  Whatever they are not told by the media, whatever propaganda is shoved in their faces, whichever lies they grow up with, they know the truth of the matter.  They feel the planet’s plight.  Their childhoods are short and from day one, they are generally bent to conforming to a deformed social ideal.  Therein lies the problem that if resolved effectively, will change the entire outlook for this planet’s future.

Foreigners – Blog No. 33

WorldLanguagesCF1Wherever you are in this world, you are likely to encounter foreigners.  If you should travel, you yourself will be a foreigner.  Feeling foreign is stressful.  Being treated as a foreigner is an uncomfortable feeling.  Particularly when that treatment is ongoing no matter how long you stay in a place.  Perhaps it is simply suspicion that makes people treat foreigners as if they were a lesser breed.  Perhaps it is more than that.  Fear of difference (… yawn …) keeps guards up, and this prevents open exchange between strangers.  You cannot have an open exchange with someone you mistrust.  It is important to trust yourself, too, it enables you to trust others without fear.  Foreigners are not usually dangerous.  It is safe to say there are more people on this planet that can be trusted, than those that cannot.  Just open your ears.  You will hear the difference, no matter what language comes rolling off a tongue.

Foreigners are a valuable source of income for any country.  They can also be an education if you can be bothered to give them the time of day.  Prejudice against anything foreign, or new, is not productive for anybody.  You cannot hope to grow when you are not interested to learn from another how they happened upon life, how it has moulded them.  The way you are – and the way you feel about that, as well the way you feel about your place in the world around you speaks for you when you enter into open exchange with someone from another country.  If they are interested to speak to you, they will read your ‘type’ in your eyes.  Your upbringing will show itself, your conditioning.  If you will not meet the eyes of a foreigner simply because they are foreign, you are rude.  If you will not meet the eyes of a woman, for whatever reason, you are even ruder.

Being foreign in a place should be enjoyable and exciting.  It is a learning.  Everyone should be bothered about learning from each other.  You cannot make the jump you need to make into your future without the insights of people who are not like you.  You cannot get where you need to be without cooperation.  We are like keys and locks – each one of us.  Give benefit of the doubt where possible.  It is good for you.  It is also good for the other person.  If you are taken advantage of, you will learn what not to do again.

Heroes – Blog No. 26

heroesHeroes are not heroes for no reason.  They are that kind of person.  They are heroic.  Heroes in stories often die.  Sometimes, they have to.  That is the way of heroism.  Since you, too, have to die at some point in the future, why not a die a hero?  It is an honourable death.  It takes some doing to get your actions registered as heroic.  That means it is not a walk in the park being a hero.  It is a very serious calling and those that decide to become heroes in life – or death – should be acknowledged with our gratitude.  A hero has focus, vision, to see a mission through and deliver reached goals with maximum efficiency.

There are many heroes walking the face of the Earth.  Theirs’ is a legacy that speaks for itself.  When you save something or put your life on the line for a cause in which you believe and you do so with a fierce passion for what you represent, you begin to understand what heroes did historically – what they still do – and why they do it.  A hero is a person who helps others, a person that understands loyalty.  That is why their value.  They are resourceful, enterprising.  They are very good at what they do.  Heroes are still required and it is just as well that they do exist.  This world has not been saved yet.

It is time to stop avenging the deaths of former ‘heroes’.  There are too many men chasing each other around brandishing death because of dead heroes.  What is the point of that?  You do not teach your son that he must kill his neighbour because the boy’s grandfather killed yours.  That is stupid thinking.  The business of vendettas is a big business, understandably, there is a firm principle behind an eye for an eye, but there are ways to do the things you must do to balance the scales of justice without compromising your soul.  It is important to know this.

Understanding – Blog No. 22

understandingIt is an interesting thought.  How do you convey an understanding?  That is some skill, when you can do that effectively.  It is a skill we are all learning, all the time.  It is about being skilled in communication.  However you choose to do that.  Understanding is visceral.  You can feel it.  How do you confer a feeling?  First you must understand the feeling before you can attempt to share it.  When you hear a truth, remember that you do not need to remind yourself to remember it for the future, when you hear a truth it sinks right in.  You have to do nothing more than hear it.  Hearing is not the same as listening.  Also, it is best if you do not start trying to fight the truth with reason – man’s reason ought not be valued as much as it is in this world.  It tries with its noise to out-shout others whose opinions are more valuable.

It is said that love means understanding a person’s position when they wrong you, treat you badly.  Instead of lashing out, you stand back and you consider what pain the person must be in.  Pain governs a great deal of bad behaviour and oftentimes deserves empathy.  This can be challenging.  Of course, should the person treating you badly simply be an arsehole, then take yourself out of their equation.  In life there is really little point in surrounding yourself with arseholes, do not allow yourself to become one, either.  It is a choice.

To share an understanding with another is a beautiful thing indeed.  Your understandings will guide you in life.  They guide very effectively when you have them accessible, your understandings lead you to ever-new perceptions about people, times, places.  Fresh perceptions are necessary in life.  They inspire you.  When you understand something new, or you understand a thing differently to the way you understood it before, you give yourself tools with which to work your life around you.  It is worth taking time to understand a thing, things.  Tools come in a variety of shapes, and sizes.

Closure – Blog No. 1

VWNoUSPlease understand that without closure you cannot move forwards.  Closure is the first step towards repair.  If you do not care to repair the damages done to you then I guess yours is a pretty pointless existence.  It is vital to recognise damages done, and it is vital to assimilate those damages so that you can get yourself into a position where you can work your future without the drag of your past.  You are not in the past, stop living there.  You are in the now.  Your future is waiting patiently for you to wake up and claim it.

Should you be struggling to find closure after the death of a loved one, remember that their death has opened doors for you.  A death always does.  I would suggest viewing the body of the departed, if such is possible, before you say your farewells.  Seeing the lifeless corpse is not something to be afraid of.  It can do nothing to you.  It is dead.  The death is easier to accept when you are faced with its reality.  Should you be unable to find closure after the death of a love relationship, remember that its demise came for a reason.  You cannot hold on to a dead love.  Funny, you cannot hold on to a live love, either.  Love will not be held down.  It has its prescribed work to do and it is not sentimental about your inability as humans to treasure its actuality.  It is alive, and it moves.  Head to head, heart to heart.  You fail to appreciate its gift to this world and it leaves.  There is nothing static about Love.  Nothing.

Teach children about closure.  Encourage them to speak about their feelings.  Be interested in what they find hurtful, stressful.  Listen to a child’s heartbreak, should such happen to your child and it is able to explain it to you.  To find closure you need to do personal work.  It doesn’t just happen.  You have to be brave enough to distress yourself with memories, feelings, disappointments.  Really.  It is time to be realistic about the state of your internal affairs.  2014 is for progress.  Tidy up.

Luck – Blog No. 95

Make-Your-Own-LuckYou do realise that you are as lucky as you think you are?  It is also true that you make your own luck.  That is very encouraging news when you consider that your future is going to be what you make of it.  You can include for yourself in your days as much luck as you can possibly muster.  Pull from all sources.  Bless yourself with big dreaming.  You do not need to wait for someone in this world to give your dreams approval.  Dare to believe for yourself that your temperament is involved in your ‘luckiness’.  Groom yourself, your thinking, for luck.  Please know that luck is not coincidence.  Nothing is coincidence.

Luck is not something that you resent if you should see another person getting lucky.  You be happy for them.  You recognise their good fortune and you ask them how they look at life.  The way they look at life will tell you a lot about their ‘luckiness’.  The importance of giving recognition to luck is that it reminds you that there is such a thing.  Consider that luck has nothing to do with money.  You are not lucky if you have money.  Money comes to each person in their time.  Most people are the same when it comes their way.  If you have money, it is your blessing to bestow.  Use it.

Luck will carry you far.  Make sure you acknowledge each piece of luck that comes your way.  It is a way of saying thankyou to the guardian that you are to yourself.  It is a way of saying thankyou to yourself for believing that you are lucky.  If you have a positive attitude towards your ‘luckiness’, you have a lot to thank your head for.  Your mind.  Your senses.  Without your senses you would neither know nor understand lucky, so be grateful for those above all.

Voyeurism – Blog No. 55

Bathroom voyeur sgnReality TV is voyeurism.  You are granted the opportunity to watch the intimate goings on of a group of people, persons.  Why do we  have a fascination with others’ lives?  Is it because we need to compare ourselves to someone else in order to gain some perspective on our own world situation, or is it because we feel entitled to have an opinion about how other people run their days?  How others run their days is not our business unless their actions clash with our own strategy.  If there is a clash of interests, you will find yourself standing your ground and fighting your corner.  It is just the way we work when we believe strongly in something.  If there is a conflict of interests, you may find yourself giving ground – either ideological or actual – in order to keep the peace.  It depends on what kind of person you are.  Do you know who you are?  Do you know whether you are a pacifist, a fascist, a humanitarian or a non-entity?  If you are a non-entity in your own life, that is a problem.

Watching others is interesting.  As a sentient human being you cannot remain unaffected by the sight of someone who is emotionally overwrought.  Whether it is grief, or pain – or victory – it will tell upon your nerves the same.  You will respond to what you see.  If you do not respond, you are probably psychotic.  If you are programmed to feel nothing for other people then you need to re-programme yourself.  Notice what is happening in the lives around you.  You are a part of many realities, you share common ground with many different people.  Realise that we are all fighting battles, facing demons, finding angels.  We are all at the mercy of our feelings.  Emotions are meant to be controlled, not ignored.  If you have no interest in other people and their emotions then you are not going to be able to help make this world a better place.  There are too many hurt people milling around, there is still too much disillusionment.  That is the problem with living an illusion in the first place.  However.  We all become disillusioned at one time or another in our lives.  There are always going to be those things that do not measure up to our expectations.  If you tell me you have no expectations (so that you never face disappointment) I will tell you that you are doing your future a disservice.  It is not advisable to do your own future a disservice.  You need to have expectations.  You are entitled to have expectations.  That is what keeps this world going around.

I think we should all expect a peaceful world.  That is the least we can do for ourselves.  I think freedom should be a right.  It is clear that you can find freedom, no matter what your constraints, but this is not something you can learn in one day.  You need to spend your life making yourself truly free.  That is the goal of every beginning.  Each time you return, you free yourself from further chains.  Our existence is not a punishment, I am so tired of people believing that.  Religion put that idiotic idea into man’s head.  Religion has a lot to answer for.  Of all institutions it is the least-equipped to explain itself to this planet and I question the value of any set of rules that does not care to justify itself in today’s terms.  Religion is control.  That is all it is.  It keeps people in line – which is no bad thing – but it divides.  Like borders divide.  If none of the religions can even agree about what God actually is, then how must we follow their say-so?  They do not know who – or what – they are talking about.
